CHIMNEY TUCK POINTING
It might be time to retuck point your chimney! Tuck pointing is repairing the mortar joints in between the layers of brick on your chimney by installing new mortar in the areas that have deteriorated. Bricks have a very long lifespan, but mortar generally only lasts 25 years. Over time, the mortar goes through a lot of weathering, and it can eventually blow the faces of the brick off. Some of the old mortar in between the bricks will need to be removed and install new mortar. The new mortar will be mixed with a color dye to match your existing mortar.
It is very important to keep your chimney maintained. It can also be the cause of leaks, which leads to interior damage and costly repairs. If deteriorating mortar joints are not repaired, bricks will begin falling off and damaging your roof and possibly your home and/or your neighbor's home. If not retuck pointed a chimney will eventually collapse. It is time to retuck point your chimney when there are holes, gaps, cracks and/or of there is a white residue on the masonry. After retuck pointing your chimney will be as good as new again! Contact us for a free estimate.
